A leading university, developing industry relevant programmes in collaboration with regional and national employers:
What you need to know:
Studying as an apprentice will be a different experience to our regular undergraduates and will at times be challenging. You will have to balance your study with a full-time role, although you are entitled to paid time off to study. But, there are a host of benefits to choosing an apprenticeship, including:
A full-time job throughout your university course. Wages for apprentices start at around £12,000 per year, although some employers pay more.
No tuition fees. The cost of tuition is paid for by your employer and the government.
A minimum of two years work experience. At the end of the apprenticeship we expect most people will continue at their present employer, but if this doesn’t happen, the work experience gained as part of the programme is a huge advantage over other graduates with similar qualifications.
As an apprentice student you’ll join a community of over 37,000 other learners. You will get all the benefits that come with being a student here, such as teaching recognised for its excellence, fantastic facilities, a full range of support services and access to a 24-hour library.
The great thing is that many of our services are also available to you online.
How to apply:
Applying for an apprenticeship is very different to a UCAS application for university. There is currently no central application system for apprenticeships, so you will have to apply directly to the company you wish to work for.
We recognise that you might need some support along the way, so register with us and we’ll let you know of job vacancies, application support and other events you might find useful.
Although the application process will vary by employer, the guide below has links to guidance, which will help with skills such as CV writing and Interview preparation.
