BAFTA Young Game Designers 2017

Meet top gaming experts:



  • Whether you love to code, draw or write the story, BAFTA Young Game Designers gives you an insight into the world of game making, as well as the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences with top game makers through our annual competition.
  • If you’re chosen as a finalist, you could see your gaming idea turned into a reality, win amazing prizes and get to meet the some of the biggest stars of the industry at a glitzy awards ceremony in London!
  • The competition allows you to explore 2 different areas of making a video game:
  1. Game Making Award
  2. Game Concept Award

Game Concept Award 2017

  • The Young Game Designers Game Concept Award is perfect for those interested in story-telling and design.

Game Making Award 2017

  • If you’re already making your own games, take it to the next level by entering the Game Making Award.

Some key things you need to know:

  • Your entry must be suitable for children aged under 16 (PEGI 12 rating or less).
  • Your game must be no larger than 100Mb
  • Make sure you fill out ALL parts of the application form, as entries will be judged by the information provided in the form
  • Any supporting artwork you supply must be you own work (no screengrabs of pre-existing games)
  • Entries for the Game Making award must have at least one playable level and will be judged on game build, gameplay experience, creativity and suitability for chosen platform.
  • Entries will be judged only from the information; artwork and imagery provided in the online competition entry form, additional text based documents that are uploaded (such as PowerPoint presentations) will not be considered.
  • You must submit a consent form signed by your parent or guardian with your application, otherwise we cannot except your entry.


  • Game Concept Award

The deadline for entries is 16.00 (4pm) on Wednesday 3 May 2017.

  • Game Making Award

The deadline for entries is 17.00 (5pm) on Wednesday 3 May 2017.


  • To enter either of these awards, you can submit your own original game idea created by yourself or with a team of two other people.
  • If your game idea is chosen as a winner, you’ll get to meet top gaming experts who’ll work with you to bring your game to life as you’ve never seen it before!
